Italian Sesame Cookies
- 3 cups Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 1/4 cup Lodestar® Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1/2 lb. Sesame Seeds
Sift flour and baking powder together. Rub in butter and Lodestar Olive Oil with fingers until crumbly. Add sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla. Mix with hands until dough is smooth.
Roll out 1 1/2 teaspoons of dough into small log. Moisten with water and roll in sesame seeds. Place
1 inch apart on buttered parchment.
Bake at 350º f. for 25 minutes until cookies are firm and golden.
Vanilla is the only edible fruit of the orchid family. Nearly all liquid vanilla from Mexico, Central & South America and the Caribbean countries are synthetic (vanillin). Pure vanilla extract costs more than $25/quart and is 35% alcohol.
